Tustin ranch kitchen

The original oak wall cabinets ran down to a soffit that cut the window in half, and the peninsula closed the room off from the dining table. The soffit came out, the peninsula became an island, and the whole run was rebuilt in Shaker Grey with a quartz top.

Cabinets were picked up from our Santa Ana dock over two trips; the installer had the boxes hung in three days.

How it was done

The soffit came down and the wall cabinets went up to the ceiling, which bought two shelves of storage the room already had and was not using. Twenty-one boxes, three days to hang, and a waterfall island in 3cm quartz that arrived in one piece and took five people to walk in.

Worth knowing before copying it: a waterfall end is not a cabinet decision, it is a template decision. The island boxes have to be dead square and dead level before anyone measures, because the mitre shows every millimetre you were out.
